GLUE EXHIBITION STATEMENT

Glue embraces the many bonds of love ranging from the cute and humorous to the kitsch and vulgar. The childlike and innocent paintings display an explosion of colour, while exploring a non-judgmental form of what people love and how people choose to love.

Love’s dark side is also exposed, illustrating that life is ever changing and love is required throughout all situations. When faced with the fear and threat of loss, we try to control the uncontrollable, reflecting the painful and wrenching side of love. The bone marrow sculptures represent life and are a manifested prayer of hope, strength, persistence and survival. They are a ritual of care and healing, showing that love is essential for us to stay strong.
